HX Tower

HALETHORPE, MD — From 1917 until 1985, HX Tower presided over the Halethorpe interlocking for the B&O at the switches from the Old Main line and the Washington Branch.  Now abandoned, the boarded-up brick tower is overgrown in vines and graffiti.  Four CSX tracks carrying lots of traffic still pass the tower. It is the last surviving tower on the Old Main Line. All images enlarge to fill browser on clicking.
