Marsden Yard gets new ties

CHOCOWINITY NC — On Saturday November 17, Norfolk Southern’s traveling track crew equipment arrived in town. The train was broken down and distributed around the yard to be ready for Monday’s crew arrival. Monday morning, the crew of nearly 70 men hit the ground, unloaded their train, and cranked up dozens of machines which specialized in some small job that contributed to the finished track work. Each contraption seemed the work of a builder from some unknown place on the scale of madness to genius. This was the week of Thanksgiving, so work had to be finished in three days and the train reloaded if the team was to spend the holiday with their families. They made it. This is condensed gallery. If you are a real railroad fanatic you can find the full galleries here: Setup Weekend, Unload and Day One work, Day Two work, Day Three work and Reload.
