Fairfield drawbridge

FAIRFIELD, NC —Back in 1990, there was still a drawbridge a couple of miles north of Fairfield where Highway 94 crosses the Intracoastal Waterway. Now, there’s a beautiful rise and arc that keeps traffic flowing toward Columbia. But, neither does it give you an opportunity to stop and gaze at the huge expanse of pocosin, scrub, reeds, and the ribbon of water spanning our eastern coastline.The bridge tender is Lloyd Fisher according to Libby KcKinney
