Copperhead

CHOCOWINITY, NC —  One of our most common poisonous snakes in eastern North Carolina is the copperhead.  The prefer avoiding people, but often freeze when confronted by people, hoping their camouflage will protect them. They are unlikely to bit unless you touch them. I saw this guy on the road, he watched me take his picture without moving at all and took off as I left him behind.
