Durham and Southern

APEX, NC — The Cape Fear and Northern Railway was begun in 1898 and changed its name to Durham & Southern in 1906. Seaboard Coast Line bought the 60 miles of track (Durham to Dunn) in 1979.  CSX continue to operate the Durham to Apex stretch that has this steel bridge. The rest is abandoned. I took this photo January 27, 2018.
