Castle Goats

WASHINGTON, NC —Back in 1990, some downtown Washington promoters decided that the easiest way to clear Castle Island for visitor use was with a few goats.  They were delivered by boat and left to feast on the verdant foliage. Their fate is still unknown, but rumors abound. Did they swim away and establish a lost goat colony? Were the rustled off to a barbecue? Were they swept by a hurricane to Indian Island? Do they lurk there now, too clever to be seen?
