Closed pedestrian tunnel

ELKRIDGE, MD— Once upon a time, Elkridge, MD had a passenger station. Shifting population centers closed it years ago. It did leave behind one marvelous piece of architecture — a passenger tunnel beneath the double track mainline that allowed riders to board both Washington and Baltimore-bound trains without the danger of crossing the busy tracks. Tunnel access is now sealed, but the ends of the tunnel are still there standing witness to better times. I took these pictures in early February 2018.
