A gift from a friend

WASHINGTON, NC /STRASBURG, PA— This weekend, a friend gave me a lapel pin. It was one he had had for a while, but, he said, “I can’t think of anyone who would appreciate it more.”  It was a one-inch wide copy of the August 1934 builder plate of “Old Rivets,” the original GG-1, the Pennsylvania Railroads then newest electric, 100 mph locomotive. It was a unique design with center cab and a streamlined body. It was GORGEOUS.  After a little research, I realized that I had photographed the exact same unit back in 1991. The pin is seen at top, and several of my photos of “Old Rivets” below. Thanks, Bill, I love it.
